Black Jet Radio
Black Jet Radio was born with the release of a 45rpm demo recorded by Brian Jenkins and Danisha Jenkins on a winter weekend in December 2010. With the help of Jason Davis and his studio Off the Cuff Sound, Tracks "Dead Wine" and "Ugly" brought to mind a Blondie meets the New York Dolls comparison with a mix of Cabaret inspired vocals, fuzz guitars, pulsing drums, driving bass, and a touch of Lowry organ. Shortly after, the band recruited Shelby Siefring to work the drums and Danielle Teagarden on bass, guitar, and vocals rounding out the lineup of Brian on guitar and bass and Danisha on lead vocals.
The band followed up the Dead Wine // Ugly release with full length debut Sex Sex Riot on April 31,2011 with a release show in their home town of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Following the release, Black Jet Radio embarked on a three month summer tour hitting major stops at The Public Assembly (Brooklyn), Hank's Saloon (Brooklyn), Otto's Shrunken Head (Manhattan), The Legendary Dobbs (Philladelphia), The Basement (Nashville), The Hi-Tone (Memphis), Chelsea's (Baton Rouge), The AllWays Lounge (New Orleans), Reggie's (Chicago), The High Noon Saloon (Madison), and The Crack Fox (St. Louis).
Black Jet Radio reformed on August 1, 2011 with the departure of Shelby and Danielle. Jason Davis (Streetlamps for Spotlights, Timber!!!) stepped in on bass guitar, Dave Trevino (Streetlamps for Spotlights, The Queers, The Beauty's) took over on drums. This line up recorded singles "Black Jet Radio" and "Wayfarying Stranger" and released them as iTunes exclusives.
The band is currently on hiatus.
